Prakash Lakhani started the business of making ready made garments with 4 stitching machines at Mohtta market the firm was called M/s Ganga & Co. |

The Lakhani brothers travelled abroad for exposure seeking insights into creating a revolutionary retail phenomenon in India in the Kidswear segment through branded kidswear. In the same year the brand was registered in the name of M/s. Harison. |

1987
The business expanded in 1987 and they added to their manufacturing capacity by taking additional space in the shape of galas at Byculla, Mumbai |

1989
The Lakhani Brothers purchased their first set of Galas at Shah & Nahar Industrial Estate, Lower Parel, Mumbai to expand its capacity. |

1994
In 1994 the Company, Gini & Jony Apparel Pvt. Ltd., was incorporated and with the help of its first PR Agency, they developed the Corporate Identity (Logo) and defined the Brand image and philosophy. During the same year Shopper’s Stop, the first organised retail format store, opened its first store in Andheri, Mumbai |

1996
The first Exclusive Brand Outlet (EBO) of the Company was opened at Somajiguda in Hyderabad. |

1997
The company purchased 9,000 sq.ft. of space for its Corporate office at Arihant Industrial Estate, Sakinaka, Andheri (E), Mumbai. |

1998
The first EBO in Mumbai was opened on high street Linking Road, Khar and also started its own GJ Design Studio with the Brand’s first designer from National Institute of Fashion Technology, (NIFT) during the year. The company also made its first exports to the UAE and Saudi Arabia. |

2002 to 2003
During the year 2002 the Company had its first media shoot overseas which was shot in Johannesburg, South Africa and came out with its first Television Commercial, again shot overseas in Croatia in the year 2003. |

2004
During the year 2004 the Company gave life to its characters “Gini & Jony” and their ten friends, Mice Attack, UFO, Jack the genius, Scamera, Madgun Maddox, Acilec, Miss Flamella, Isabel, Chantera and Fixo a2z. |

2005
The Company offered equity to Sonata Investments Ltd., an investment arm of Reliance Energy which was subsequently transferred to Reliance Capital Ltd. A part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) |

2006
In 2006 Gini and Jony Apparel Pvt Ltd joined hands with India’s retail giant, Pantaloons Retail India Ltd (PRIL), to promote a chain of Kid’s Stores. An independent joint venture company, GJ Future Fashions Ltd. was formed to launch One Stop Kid’s Destinations across the country. |
